Ed Pownall runs his Industry Eye over some of the news battering the gambling industry this week:

As FanDuel continue to post mind-blowingly good figures in the US its owner Flutter are sensing a nice little payday for the management team (& hopefully us shareholders too) buy floating the business. This feels like jolly shrewd business to us.

Quite a few of our viewers noticed that I didn’t mention the collapse of Football Index so to make amends: I rather liked the concept of trading players but the problem with doing a huge marketing spend (they shirt sponsor of Nottingham Forest and QPR among other things). These are very expensive & so if they don’t pull in  the punters, you’re staring down the barrel at a big pile of debt.

Still I think somebody might pick it up as a side game for their site. There’s been plenty of acquisitions of late so who’s going to save these punters from being out of pocket: Flutter? Entain? Come guys, step up, please.

This caught The Industry Eye: the biggest player in the Italian market right now is no longer Bet365 or local incumbent Snai. So who is it? GoldBet. Who? & far more interestingly how? Nobody puts the Coates babies in the corner.

And Finally…remember the days when betting companies had to use .net or .play .whatnot instead of .com in order to sponsor a football team? Well LeoVegas.news are signing a deal with As Roma. No. no, not LeoVegas the betting company LeoVegas.news who will become ‘official online infotainment partner of the club.

Sad to the see industry still having to jump through these hoops. We should demand more respect when parting with our money for their gain.
